Genetics play a huge role in hair loss, but let’s not forget that if you dye your hair and put other chemical products into it constantly, hair will lose its youthful luster, start breaking, and fall out.
You have more power than you think to preserve your hair.
Hair loss is a symptom of low thyroid. So make sure you take thyroid hormones under the care of a knowledgeable prevention expert.
Blood tests don’t show the way your thyroid functions nearly as accurately as your hair does.
Treat your hair gently. Wash it with shampoos that are organic and plant-based.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t dye your hair because our culture feels very strongly that women with white or grey hair are old.
But until we change that cultural mindset, use organic dyes.
Supplements like biotin, B12, and marine algae extracts such as Viviscal help as well.
Skin care begins with sun protection. Keep your face out of the sun whenever possible and use sunscreen, but only on your face.
If you managed to avoid a bad sunburn before the age of 16, you have pretty much done a great job of ensuring your face won’t prematurely age.
Use body moisturizers after showers to keep your skin soft and prevent wrinkles. Do not use powders or drying agents. Your skin likes moisture — so give it moisture.
Drink lots of water. The better hydrated you are, the less likely you are to get wrinkles. It will also eliminate liver toxins that leave you with dark circles and bags around the eyes.
Eat fresh vegetables and fruit, and stay away from caffeine, alcohol, and sugar substitutes.
When you drink a cup of caffeinated tea or coffee, you need three glasses of water to make up for the dehydration they cause.
Plane travel is hugely dehydrating, so when you fly be sure to drink plenty of water.
Take milk thistle, a supplement that clears your liver, and watch your skin improve rapidly.
Consider growth hormone. If saggy skin runs in your family, you may start using human growth hormone (HGH) in your late 40s under the supervision of a knowledgeable physician.
Cost can be a factor here because HGH is quite expensive. Don’t buy inexpensive HGH drops or lozenges on the Internet. HGH gets absorbed only if injected.
One more thing: Avoid weight swings. Try to stay within 5 pounds as much as possible, with the exception of pregnancy. People who keep their weight stable don’t get saggy skin.
