Can Napping Indicate Health Problems?

My wife is tired all the time and takes a nap every day, even when she gets eight hours of sleep at night. I’ve told her that my doctor told me exercise can give you more energy, but she says she’s too tired to work out. What do you think?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

You are right, but if she is too tired to work out, she needs further evaluation by her physician. Be sure she has no underlying coronary artery disease and that her diet and endocrine system (thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas) is healthy and in need of no further correction.

Persistent fatigue warrants further evaluation by her physician for physical and or emotional or psychiatric reasons for her lethargy.
