Why Do I Get Morning Headaches?

By    |   Monday, 18 May 2015 03:56 PM EDT

Question: I wake up almost every morning with a headache that I get rid of by taking one pain reliever. Is that normal?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

Morning headaches are not normal. See your physician for an evaluation.

Possible causes may include sleep apnea, migraine, medication side effects, diabetes, hypoglycemia, tumor, aneurism, a pre-stroke warning, hypertension, or even carbon monoxide poisoning.

Do not settle for taking a pain reliever every day. Seek out the cause and correct it.
