Is My Chest Pain Heartburn or Cardiac Disease?

By    |   Monday, 01 June 2015 11:13 AM EDT

Question: I have intermittent chest pain, but when I take just a few sips of cold water, the pain goes away immediately. I'm thinking that maybe it is just heart burn? What do you think?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

Chest pain that clears with cold water is not necessarily heartburn, and does not exclude the possibility that you have cardiac disease.

You would be well advised to consult a personal physician on this. Only a professional medical doctor is qualified to diagnose and treat you.

You must not delay this evaluation.
