Strenuous Exercise Dampens Male Libido

It’s well-known that women who exercise too extensively can experience hormone imbalances that impair menstruation and sex drive.

A study now indicates that men who overdo it in the gym or on the track may suffer similar declines in sex drive.

Researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill divided approximately 1,100 active adult men into groups according to the extent of their exercise regimens in terms of length and intensity. They also asked them about their interest and engagement in sex.

Men who reported moderate or high sex drives had exercise routines that were moderate or light. The results did not clarify whether exercise caused sex drive to diminish or if low libido or sexual activity leads to greater intensity of exercise.
