Need Holistic Approach to Hypertension

William Maxfield, M.D. By Friday, 03 November 2017 04:00 PM EDT Current | Bio | Archive

I have written before about one of the main problems with prescription drugs: the fact that they treat symptoms but they do not treat the underlying cause of an ailment or disease.

Since then, additional data have been published by medical school research programs on drugs to lower blood pressure.

That research has confirmed that there are significant side effects from the blood pressure medications including fatigue, weakness, dizziness, headaches, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, erectile dysfunction, menstrual problems, heart palpitations, kidney failure, and liver failure.

Even more shocking is the finding that these prescription medications do not decrease incidence of heart attack or extend a patient’s life.

This underscores once again that we should focus on holistic approaches to treating hypertension — which can get at the underlying cause, not just the symptoms.
