Alternatives to Overused Drugs

A recent report from Johns Hopkins medical school pointed out that medical errors are now the third leading cause of death in the United States. But it turns out that medical errors are not confined to the hospital.

I have written before about the problem of medications that treat symptoms but do not relieve the underlying condition — and that expose patients to significant side effects. Indeed, the volume of side effects can be easily appreciated by listening to television advertisements that can take almost 60 seconds to list the unintended consequences of such “treatment.”

Now, on the heels of the Johns Hopkins study, a report from Health Science Institute (HSI) has broken down the medications that cause the worst side effects into 7 categories, which I will address in reverse order, and offer alternative treatments with few if any side effects.

7. Chemotherapy drugs. These cancer-fighting drugs unfortunately affect normal cells alongside cancer cells. There are data that a product, H-86 can be used to treat a number of different types of cancers and affects only the cancer cells and not the normal cells.

6. Diabetic drugs. There is a product called WBX 13 that can stop diabetes in 90 days, and also aids weight loss — without the complications of the diabetic drugs.

5. Arthritis drugs. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, can cause significant complications. There is a new treatment called bone morphogenetic protein that turns on the patients own stem cells and is much more effective than the NSAID drugs.

4. Alzheimer’s drugs. The predominant treatment is Aricept, which produces significant complications. I have written before about New Eden, a product that actually reverses Alzheimer’s symptoms and has not caused signification side effects. Another promising treatment is called Lions Mane Mushrooms. Both are better options than Aricept.

3. Hypertension drugs. Beta channel blockers, calcium channel blockers, and the other usual treatments cause significant side effects. Nitric oxide, which is available as a lozenge or an ointment, can significantly decrease the blood pressure without side effects. Nitric oxide is also very effective for treating balance problems, thereby preventing falls.

2. Statin drugs. These cholesterol-reducing medications are a $14 billion industry, but studies show that statins can produce a 50 percent increase in diabetes. The Food and Drug Administration also reported that statins can cause significant cognitive defects, as well as pain in joints and muscles.

1. Sleep aids. Medications such as Ambient and Lunesta can cause a significant increase in the death rate and have been reported to increase the incidents of cancer. A natural product from the magnetic bark called “tree of life,” has been very effective in sleep problems without the side effects of the standard drugs.

These data again suggest there is a trending return to holistic medicine to correct underlying disease processes rather than simply treating disease symptoms — as do most prescription drugs. Again, contact HSIonline.com for additional information on this data.
