Can Natural Remedies Treat Thyroid Problems?

By    |   Monday, 08 July 2013 09:54 AM EDT

Question: My fiancé has hyperthyroidism that is not being treated. At this time we cannot afford to see a doctor for help or meds. He is 5-foot-9 and now barely weighs 110 pounds. Is there anything else he can do through diet or other things?

Dr. Hibberd’s answer:

Hyperthyroidism may become a life-threatening thyroid storm almost without warning. The mortality rate for thyroid storm is 20-30 percent. It is usually caused by a stroke or heart attack from this devastating but fortunately rare complication of hyperthyroidism affecting less than 10 percent of hyperthyroidism patients.

Treatment is simple, and it would be best for him to start treatment early, before his complications start. You are very unwise not to have hyperthyroidism aggressively treated. There are no dietary or natural methods of treatment for this.
