Question: Two years ago I had two heart stents installed. Now when I wake up in the morning I sometimes have a light pain in my left arm. I’m a middle-aged man. Is this something I should be alarmed about?
Dr. Hibberd's answer:
Are you going for regular follow-up visits to your cardiologist? You mention that two stents were placed two years ago; your doctor will know the site and type of the stents used in your case. In view of continued pain in your left arm, it is possible that you may have developed another block elsewhere or the stents are themselves not functioning as they should. Sometimes, a blood clot can form in the stent and cause a sudden re-narrowing or even a complete blockage. If the pain gets progressively worse as the day progresses, especially even after minor exertion such as standing or talking, you need to visit your doctor right away.
