Question: Do you know if there is a natural treatment for osteoarthritis?
Dr. Hibberd’s answer:
No. There is no natural agent that will treat osteoarthritis. Chondroitin has some followers, but as a general rule we are still awaiting an effective natural treatment. At present, treatment involves regular exercise, avoiding too much stress on affected joints, and using a low-dose pain medication (such as ibuprofen, naproxen or Tylenol).
Sometimes an intra-articular (in the joint) cortisone medication will rapidly and effectively relieve the pain, as well.
