Question: Dr. Hibberd, I enjoy reading your advice and have gotten much useful information from your answers, thank you. Like everybody else, I get all kinds of ads in my email for erectile dysfunction products. I am an older man and have problems with this, but I’d like to know if any of this stuff actually works.
Dr. Hibberd's answer:
As with any other information from the Internet, make sure you are reading material from an authentic website. There is a lot of information out there that is not just wrong, but also suggests options that might cause harm. So, before attempting to take any medication (including over-the-counter supplements or herbal remedies available online) for erectile dysfunction, it is always better to consult your doctor first. There are a lot of treatment options that are available. The right treatment will include an evaluation to determine whether any other health problems could be causing or worsening the erectile dysfunction. Oral tablets such as Sildenafil (Viagra), Tadalafil (Cialis), Vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn), are known to help. Injections, suppositories, and testosterone replacement therapies are also available.
