Question: My hands shake slightly just about all the time. It doesn’t really impair me, but I’m wondering if it is a sign of a health problem.
Dr. Hibberd’s answer:
A fine tremor of our hands is more common in some people than others and is usually not a sign of a health problem. Most of the fine tremors we see result from benign familial tremor, and they are usually not noticeable to others.
Usually no treatment is required, but symptoms may worsen during periods of sleep deprivation, stress, and stimulant or caffeine use. Fine tremors also may be present with medical conditions that do require treatment, such as with hyperthyroidism, so be sure to have yourself checked by your private physician.
