Question: I’ve been hearing a lot about green coffee bean extract for weight loss. Do you think it is effective and is there any harm in trying it?
Dr. Hibberd's answer:
Many national TV health programs, radio and internet are discussing green coffee bean extract for weight loss. Here's my advice: SAVE YOUR MONEY.
It is being touted as being safe, effective, and claims it is completely devoid of adverse side-effects (There is no drug or food agent completely free of adverse side effects!) The active ingredient is chlorogenic acid that is said to be responsible for the weight-loss benefits associated with the raw green coffee bean. This substance is claimed to support weight loss by helping the body more efficiently burn glucose and fat, primarily in the liver, and it purportedly slows the release of glucose into the bloodstream. By reducing the build-up of sugar in the blood, your body has less opportunity to store fat. This results in the regulation of blood sugar and helps reduce weight. Green coffee bean extract is also known to have some healthy antioxidant properties.
Remember that exercise and diet are the most important controlling factors for weight loss.
