Question: Whenever I eat, I feel like I need to take a nap afterward, I feel so sluggish. What could be causing this?
Dr. Hibberd's answer:
Fatigue after eating always raises the question of your blood sugar levels. Are they elevated enough to that you may have diabetes — or is your glucose level low, or normal?
Feeling sleepy after a big meal is quite a normal phenomenon for many of us. But if this is a new problem for you, it would be wise to see your physician for an evaluation to be sure an underlying disorder — such as diabetes — is not the reason you feel sleepy after eating.
