Question: I seem to get attacks of divertculitis about every 4-5 months. How can I keep this from coming back?
Dr. Hibberd’s Answer:
The main cause of repeated diverticulitis is thought to be a low-fiber diet. You probably have a mild type of the condition with mild abdominal cramps, bloating or constipation. A high-fiber diet and mild pain reliever will often relieve symptoms. Your diet plan must include fruits, grains, cereals, green vegetables, and nuts. In case your symptoms are more severe, consult your physician.
