Question: Should I take a daily baby aspirin? My doctor says it’s not recommended unless you have a heart condition.
Dr. Hibberd's answer:
Taking one baby aspirin daily is a sensible prevention strategy for those who may be at risk for stroke or heart attack. Generally this is not recommended until over the age of 40 or 45 years of age.
I would not want to wait for a heart condition to develop before taking a daily aspirin. But some patients should not use aspirin, so I do recommend you seek the approval of your physician first, and understand the potential harms and benefits before you start this.
