Question: I’m thinking about having some cosmetic surgery, but my doctor says even a facelift can be risky. What do you think?

All surgery associated with anesthesia has risks, even for otherwise healthy people. The addition of chronic conditions such as obesity, hypertension, coronary artery disease, or hypertension compounds risks and increase chances of unexpected complications or even sudden death.
I cannot comment on your specific risks, but be advised that when your doctor says something is risky, tread lightly and ask questions why. Always ask your primary care doctor about your risk before embarking on plastic surgery procedures. Sometimes your risk is affected by the location where the surgery is performed, and some of us will require more specialized facilities, even for simple procedures.
All this being said, the largest majority of patients undergoing facelifts are very satisfied with their results.
