Question: My husband smokes cigars and says they are not as bad as cigarettes because he doesn't inhale. Is this true?
Dr. Hibberd's answer:
Your husband is wrong. Cigars are every bit as bad as cigarettes. He does inhale, but it is not as direct and purposeful as with cigarette smoke, which is actively inhaled into the lungs to the nicotine.
He needs also to do a little more reading on subject to realize there is strong scientific evidence that even secondhand smoke — from cigars, cigarettes, and pipes — can set him up (as well as you) to real dangers.
