What's Causing My Chronic Back, Stomach Pain?

By    |   Wednesday, 13 November 2013 03:32 PM EST

Question: For several weeks now I have been having pain in my back and stomach, as well as heartburn. What could be the problem?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

Back pain and stomach pain with heartburn are red flags for a possible ulcer, heart disease, or even cancer, to name only a few of the concerning conditions that may be present. These symptoms should be sufficient for you to request an urgent consultation with your doctor.

You should not be waiting any longer, and would be well advised to stop all smoking and excess alcohol use as soon as possible.
