Question: My wife had a ganglion cyst on her knee removed three times, but it keeps growing back. Is there a solution?
Dr. Hibberd's Answer:
Ganglion cysts do not usually recur once they have been excised completely. Be sure that a pathological exam is performed when your ganglion is removed.
There are other ganglion-like cysts that do have a tendency to recur, especially those associated with neurofibromas.
It sounds as though it’s time to remove the ganglion and have it examined by a pathologist for cell type as well as for clear margins.
