Question: I had double vision (diplopia) about ten years ago at the age of 66. Diabetes was ruled out and I’ve been okay since. But what could have caused it and is it possible that the condition can come back?
Dr. Hibberd's Answer:
Diploplia can occur with numerous conditions, not just diabetes, and I'm not sure of the cause any more than you are! In any event, while this time lapse is reassuring, it wouldn't stop me from seeking the consultation of my local neuro-opthamologist for their evaluation of my vision now, as well as a good general preventative health examination by your primary care physician.
