Question: My sister who is 63 has lung and liver cancer probably from smoking all her life. She will be getting the normal treatments, but I was wondering about alternative medicines as boosters. What about fucoidans and graviola for the cancer recovery and hyperimmune egg for energy and immunity boosting?
Dr. Hibberd's Answer:
I do not recommend the agents you have quoted here as immune modulants. Your sister's malignancy of lung is bad enough and no doubt her smoking was a major factor in the development of her malignancy. Add liver malignancy, and she is definitely under siege.
Do not add alternative treatments to her conventional chemotherapy.
There are many problems with the management of her condition, the least of which should involve shotgun approaches and their complications when mixed with conventional treatments. If you wish to supplement her conventional treatment with immunotherapy, discuss this with her treating physicians first.
