Americans eat too many refined food products. That single factor is responsible for causing a host of illnesses, including diabetes.
Refined food products are devitalized — they lack vital nutrients such as enzymes, vitamins, and minerals.
The reason such products are so prevalent is that food manufactures have learned that refined foods have very long shelf lives. Because they lack essential nutrients, they do not spoil.
But eating food devoid of essential nutrients leads to a devitalized body.
In addition, fast foods and refined carbohydrate products such as bread, pasta, and cereal are quickly digested, leading to elevated blood sugar levels.
The pancreas responds to high blood sugar by excreting a large amount of insulin. Eventually, the pancreas can fatigue and/or insulin resistance can develop.
The old saying, “Garbage in, garbage out,” holds true in the case of refined food products.
