Question: My daughter has suffered from psoriasis since her early teens. Is there anything that is natural that won’t hurt her that she could take?
Dr. Brownstein's Answer:
Psoriasis, a skin condition associated with redness and irritation, is not an easy condition to
treat. It can be improved, but is not cured with natural therapies.
One of the first things I do for a patient with psoriasis is search for food allergies. My experience has clearly shown that eating allergenic foods exacerbates the condition. The most common food allergen that I have found is dairy. Every patient who comes to my office receives a blood test for the dairy protein casein. If antibodies to casein are elevated, I suggest removing dairy from the diet. It is rare for a psoriatic patient not to be sensitive to dairy.
Food allergies can be assessed by using an acupressure technique known as NAET. There are thousands of NAET practitioners across the United States. You can find an NAET practitioner by going to
www.naet.com.
