The Importance of Salt

David Brownstein, M.D. By Wednesday, 17 February 2021 04:37 PM EST Current | Bio | Archive

The first step to helping a patient with fatigue is to make a proper diagnosis. Every patient who comes to me gets a full nutritional and hormonal evaluation.

If that person is suffering from fatigue, I look at his or her adrenal gland function in more detail. If a person is experiencing both low adrenal and low thyroid function, it is important to treat the adrenal gland first.

And I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to provide the body with adequate salt, which will nourish and support the adrenal glands. I have written extensively about the importance of salt.

Though the powers that be want you to believe that we all need to eat less salt, the truth is that the vast majority of people are salt-deficient.

Unrefined salt is the best source. Refined salt should be avoided.

More information about salt can be found in my book, Salt Your Way to Health.
