Blood glucose test strips made by Arkray have been recalled because they may falsely report normal levels in diabetics with high blood sugar levels.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recalled items are the SPOTCHEM II Basic PANEL-1 Reagent Test Strip and SPOTCHEM II Glucose Reagent Test Strip. They carry lot Numbers PN5C26 and EA4M78, and manufacturing dates of November 2014 to September 2015.

They were distributed between February 18 and October 13, 2015.

There have been no reports of illness or injury from the use of the SPOTCHEM II Test Strips, but this issue may cause serious injury or death.

Products can be returned to their place of purchase. For more information, customers with questions can call Arkray at 1-877-538-8872.
