'Smart Bikini' Warns Users About Too Much Sun

Thursday, 11 June 2015 02:47 PM EDT

A new “smart” bikini that warns bathers of too much sun exposure via their smartphones has been developed by — who else? — French fashion designers.

Tiny sensors attached to the fabric of the swimsuits and indicates when wearers are about to burn “depending on their skin type,” The Telegraph reports.

The alerts are sent to a user’s smartphone.

A beach towel version is also available, and a children’s version is being developed, complete with GPS alert to warn parents if kids wander off on the beach.
