A British woman has felt persistently dizzy ever since taking a spin on a carnival ride a year ago at a fair. Doctors say her condition is caused by a rare type of migraine.
Bobbie Lane, 26, went on the ride last year at a festival in Reading, England, according to the
Daily Mail.
The high-speed Superbowl ride rises into the air while rotating. After taking it for a spin, Lane said she felt dizzy, but the disorientation has persisted long after the ride stopped.
"When I got home
, I was still dizzy — it felt like I was permanently at sea," Lane told the
Daily Mail.
She has felt unsteady on her feet ever since, describing the sensation as like having too much to drink.
Lane was diagnosed with Migraine Variant Balance Disorder, (also known as Migraine Associated Vertigo), a condition that affects her memory and leaves sufferers feeling permanently “drunk.”
“I had always suffered from migraines, but the doctor asked me if I had done any extreme sports or gone on rollercoasters,” she said. “I told him about the ride at Reading, and he said that was probably the cause.
“It’s changed my entire life. I’ve had to quit the job I spent four years in and I loved because I have to avoid all stress, and my diet has changed significantly — there’s a list of foods I can’t eat any more as long as my arm.”
