Calling himself "the future" after claiming victory in his first presidential debate against Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump wrote off the Democratic nominee as "the candidate of yesterday," according to The Washington Times.

"For 90 minutes on issue after issue Hillary Clinton defended the terrible status quo, while I laid out our plan, all of us together, to bring jobs, security and prosperity back to the American people," Trump said as he addressed a crowd in Melbourne, Florida. "For 90 minutes she argued against change, while I called for dramatic change."

"She has been there for 26 years and hasn't fixed anything, All talk and no action. Typical politician," he said.

Trump said the campaign had already made an $18 million haul in a post-debate fundraising push.

Trump, who received mixed reviews for his debate performance, criticized debate moderator Lester Holt of NBC News for challenging his statements, while letting off Clinton without follow-up questions. He also claimed the mainstream media doesn't treat him fairly.

"The single weapon she has got in the media," Trump said Tuesday. "Without the mainstream media, she wouldn't even be here, folks, that I can tell you. She wouldn't even be here. She wouldn't have a chance."

According to the report, political experts believe the Republican nominee had fared well but failed to capitalize on the momentum that he progressed. According to Daily Mail, most U.S. media polls showed that Trump did better than Clinton after Monday's debate.

The billionaire businessman said he took it easy on the former first lady by not mentioning husband Bill Clinton's extramarital affairs.

"I didn't want to do anything to embarrass her," he said. "But I watched her, and she was stuck in the past."
