The New York Daily News printed another vicious front-page about its dislike for Donald Trump on Wednesday — and the GOP presidential front-runner quickly fired back, attacking Mort Zuckerman as the "dopey" owner of a "worthless" tabloid nobody else wants to own.
Trump exploded in fury when he got a look at News 'cover which depicts him as "The Joker," the twisted Batman villain from the 2008 film "The Dark Night," complete with white pancake makeup and an eerie blot of lipstick.
In recent weeks, the News has been going out of its way to insult the billionaire developer on Page One.
One headline crowed, "Dead Clown Walking," in which he sports clown makeup and yellow hair; and another taunted, "I'm With Stupid" accompanied by a photo of
Trump with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who endorsed him for president.
On Wednesday, hours after Trump handily won the New Hampshire primary, a sizable comeback following his loss to Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas in last week's Iowa caucuses — he batted out three take-no-prisoners tweets to slam The News' latest editorial haymaker:
Trump's pithy comments about Zuckerman, who like Trump is a billionaire real-estate tycoon, refer to Zuckerman's attempt to sell the money-losing newspaper last year and being unable to make a deal.
Zuckerman later said he was withdrawing the sale offer and began slashing staff, including top sportswriters who had been with the paper for decades. Many believe the once-mighty publication is on life support.
