Schiff May Ask Nunberg to Testify for House Intel Committee

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee hinted at asking a former Trump campaign aide who is defying a grand jury subpoena to testify in front of his panel.

Hours after Sam Nunberg gave multiple interviews in which he acknowledged receiving a subpoena to spend time in front of the grand jury impaneled for the Department of Justice's Russia probe, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., raised the issue with CNN.

"Certainly if Mr. Nunberg has light to shed about what the President knew about the Trump Tower meeting, we would like to find out," Schiff told the network.

A 2016 meeting in Trump Tower between Donald Trump Jr. and other members of the Trump campaign has come under intense scrutiny because it involved a Russian woman. Trump Jr. agreed to the meeting after he was promised dirt on Democrat Hillary Clinton.

It has been reported the meeting ended up not being about Clinton. What is unclear is whether then-candidate Donald Trump knew about the meeting before it took place —although special counsel Robert Mueller might be looking to find out.
