Bernie Sanders's wins in caucuses in Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii over the weekend underscore the weakness of Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton's "deeply flawed" candidacy, her platform, and more, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in a
statement after the results rolled in.
"Winning only one out of six primaries and caucuses this week is an embarrassing performance for the Democrat front-runner," Priebus said.
"At a time when the public's concern about terrorism is growing, Hillary Clinton's glaring record of failure on fighting terrorism and her decision to set up a secret email server shows she recklessly jeopardized national security and can't be trusted in the White House."
Americans are looking for new leadership, he continued, but will not get it either from Clinton or Sanders, who are "promising to rubber stamp more of the extreme Obama agenda. Only a Republican president will offer the course correction our country badly needs."
Sanders' wins did little to narrow the delegate gap between himself and Clinton, who did not do much campaigning in the three Western states, and instead is turning her focus to the New York primary, being held on April 19, in hopes of winning an larger share of delegate and marking a victory in the state she represented as a senator.
