Donald Trump is holding onto a 1-point lead after the final presidential debate, according to the latest IBD/TIPP tracking poll released Friday.
The results:
- Trump: 41 percent;
- Clinton: 40 percent;
- Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson: 8 percent;
- Green Party candidate Jill Stein: 4 percent;
- Not sure: 5 percent.
In head-to-head polling, Clinton leads Trump by 2 points with 12 percent undecided.
Noteworthy is that the results reflect no negative reaction from voters over Trump's debate bombshell that he would not immediately recognize the election results, but would instead keep the country in suspense.
Trump's support from independent voters fuels his edge, according to the poll:
- Trump: 42 percent;
- Clinton: 31 percent;
- Johnson: 13 percent;
- Not sure: 6 percent.
Results based on survey of 789 likely voters conducted from Oct. 15-20. Margin of error: +/- 3.6 percentage points.
