The wife of Orlando nightclub gunman reportedly attempted to talk the Islamic State (ISIS) sympathizer out of launching an attack.
Noor Mateen also told FBI investigators that she had accompanied her husband when he loaded up on ammunition and a holster at a gun store,
sources tell NBC News.
In addition, she said she had once driven him to Pulse, because he wanted to "scope out" the gay club, where early Sunday he opened fire, killing 49 and injuring 53.
NBC said Mateen is cooperating with investigators, even though they are considering filing criminal charges against her for failing to tell them about her husband's actions before the attack.
FBI director James Comey said Monday that the gunman, Omar Mateen, showed "strong indications of radicalization" and was likely inspired by foreign terrorist organizations by way of the internet.
Comey said the shooter, 29, spoke with a 911 operator three times during the attack. At one point, he pledged loyalty to ISIS before turning the gun on himself.
