Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by 9 points, according to a new NBC News/Survey Monkey poll released Tuesday.
The breakdown:
- Clinton: 50 percent;
- Trump: 41 percent.
Adding Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party's Jill Stein to the poll question appeared to take some votes away from Clinton, but she remained in the lead.
- Clinton: 43 percent;
- Trump: 37 percent;
- Johnson: 11 percent;
- Stein: 4 percent.
According to the poll, a majority of voters say Clinton has "the personality and temperament to serve" — 42 percent to 17 percent.
By party lines, 39 percent of Democrats believe Clinton has the "temperament to serve," compared to only 7 percent of Republicans and 23 percent of independent-leaning voters who believe in Clinton's temperance.
As for Trump, 19 percent of Republicans say he has "temperament to serve," while 2 percent of Democrats and 8 percent of independents believe that.
Trump won out in a question of how many voters believed him to be honest: 16 percent said he was, compared to 11 percent for Clinton.
The online poll was conducted from Aug. 8 to Aug. 14 among 15,179 people who said they were registered voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.2 percentage points.
