Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign is touting the fact he has more female donors than Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton,
The Washington Post reports.
In the last reporting period that ended September 30, Sanders had 301,154 female donors to Clinton's 240,000. If Clinton is elected, she would be the first female president.
The numbers are based on each campaign's own analysis, the Post notes, since small donations don't have to be itemized on federal reporting forms.
Clinton still claims a greater percentage of donations from women. That's because Sanders' donors typically donate in smaller amounts.
Clinton says 60 percent of her donations come from women, compared to Sanders' 44 percent.
