Headline news all over the world reports that Israel’s defense minister, moderate Moshe Ya’alon said in the Israeli media that the only thing that could "save" Israel was for Kerry to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and "leave us alone."
As he continued, “the American security plan that was presented to us is not worth the paper it was written on. In reality, there have been no negotiations between us and the Palestinians for all these months — but rather between us and the Americans.”

How completely accurate and justified Ya’alon is. Truthful statements from a moderate, rationale, sane voice of the Israeli government. Ya’alon further said, “Secretary of State John Kerry, who came here very determined, and operates based upon an unfathomable obsession and a messianic feeling, cannot teach me anything about the Palestinians.”
Indeed, in the rough and tough neighborhood Israel lives, this obsession is dangerous for the Jews.
The Western world needs to thank Moshe Ya’alon for speaking truth to power, and let us hope that it makes a difference.
One wishes that Kerry would recognize that the Jews aren’t the problem in the region. In Syria, over 100,000 people have been slaughtered in the last two years, including more than 5,000 children under the age of 16.
The Obama administration helped remove a staunch American ally in Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, and now nearly all sides in this political conflict are anti-American. Throughout the Middle East, from Libya to Iran, anti-American sentiment remains high.
While the State Department reacted angrily to the comments, saying Yaalon’s words were “offensive and inappropriate especially given all that the United States is doing to support Israel's security needs,” those most concerned with American interests should stand up and thank Ya'alon. Indeed, all he did was say the same thing liberal Esquire magazine did many months ago.
As Esquire asked in a feature
“Why Are We So Obsessed with Israel? Hint: It’s Not Doing Any Good,” columnist Stephen Marche observed that the world’s obsession with the Jewish state has gone on long enough. As Esquire noted regarding Kerry’s Israel visits, “There is nothing he could be doing that would be a bigger waste of his time, including windsurfing.”
There is an unfair obsession with the Jewish state, and if Kerry wants to spend time in the Middle East, let him solve the problems of Syria, Iran, and Egypt before bothering Israel any more. Israel’s Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon deserves thanks from the West.
America is pushing a suicide plan down Israel’s throat, and it’s dangerous for Israel and America. Let Kerry and Obama remember that there is one place in the Middle East where an American flag is not burned — and that is the state of Israel.
John Kerry – leave Israel alone.
