With his defeat Tuesday in Indiana, Sen. Ted Cruz brought to an end a remarkable presidential bid.
As one of his admirers, I am very sorry to see this principled, courageous man leave the race.
As an American who believes the country desperately needs a course-correction, especially with respect to the national security, I pray that his vision in that regard will nonetheless prevail.
I had the privilege of being asked to serve as one of the senior national security advisers for the Texas senator’s 2016 campaign.
It gave me an opportunity to witness first-hand his inspiring clarity about the threats we are facing, his unwavering commitment to our friends and allies around the world; and his determination to restore the common defense.
Our times’ existential threats to freedom require such qualities in our next commander-in-chief.
We must accept nothing less.
