It’s been seven years since Michigan voters opted for legalizing weed for medicinal purposes, and decriminalization has taken place city-by-city. This patchwork approach to marijuana use has many taking to Twitter.
In 2011, Kalamazoo passed a Lowest Level Enforcement Priority initiative. The following year there was another that permitted three dispensaries to operate within the city. Grand Rapids made possession of small amounts of cannabis a civil infraction, like it has been in Ann Arbor for years. Ypsilanti voted in a LLEP comparable to Kalamazoo's; voters in Detroit and Flint amended existing ordinances to get rid of penalties for adults possessing an ounce or less of marijuana on private property.

It seems apparent that a significant majority of residents, who are considering the possibility that Michigan will be legalizing weed, feel strongly that it will happen. They also believe it will be via a 2016 statewide ballot initiative.
