How to Diagnose Hearing Loss

Monday, 13 June 2011 03:59 PM EDT

Hearing loss can be diagnosed by understanding the various signs of hearing loss. Here are signs and symptoms that help diagnose hearing loss:

1. Hearing loss symptoms include request for speech repetition, tendency to stare at people while talking, and not reacting to what others ask. Old age and exposure to noise for a long period of time can bring about these hearing loss symptoms. Family history and certain diseases may also contribute to hearing loss.
2. Hearing loss can be diagnosed by proper examination and testing carried out by an audiologist.
3. Hearing loss can be evident even in infancy. If a child does not respond to sound within a few months after birth, one should consult a doctor.
