George Soros’ path to success was marked by periods of tribulation. He was born into a bleak situation, having to avoid the grips of both Stalinism and Nazi occupation. Through this experience, Soros developed his own ideas as to what politics should be like.
Soros developed into an avid supporter of a political structure that promotes a free and open society. This facet of Soros is exemplified through his organization, titled The Open Society Foundations. The self-proclaimed mission of the foundation is to “work to build vibrant and tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable and open to the participation of all people.”
