Website “Club Penguin” owned by The Walt Disney Company is now live again after being taken offline Monday morning.
The site’s owner had failed to renew the domain name according to WHOIS information for the site. The domain name expired on June 13; a week ago.
12 million site users were disappointed to find a domain renewal page this morning instead of their usual Club Penguin homepage, taking to Twitter and various social media to air their frustrations.
The Club Penguin blog said not to worry, that Disney has renewed the domain and the site should be back up shortly for those who are still experiencing the domain renewal page.
Disney purchased Club Penguin in 2007 for up to $700 million.
