Bonnaroo Festival Ready to Kick-Off

Wednesday, 08 June 2011 02:14 PM EDT

Bonnaroo, an annual four day music and camping festival, kicks off on June 9th with a performance from Uncle Skeleton, an electronic/indie band selected by the American public in a Mercy Lounge/BMI Road to Bonnarroo contest.

The tenth annual festival taking place on a farm in Manchester, Tennessee, will feature over 50 bands on multiple stages each day with major headliners including Lil Wayne and Girl Talk.

Bonnaroo is a unique festival due to its wide variety of musical genres represented, ranging from rap such as "Wiz Kalifa" to electronic with "Pretty Lights" and alternative "Iron and Wine."

Bonnaroo is the closest present-day equivalent to The Woodstock Festival of the 1960s and even boasts tent and RV rentals as well as public showering facilities.

According to Bonnaroo’s official website, a few things guests are advised to bring are “Good vibes and a smile.”

The festival is not limited to just musical performances, although there are more than enough to fill the day; it also includes an arcade, theater, silent disco, comedy club, and beer festival.

The overall atmosphere is said to be so unique and unrivaled that Rolling Stone magazine called the experience one of the “50 moments that changed the history of rock and roll.”
