Celebrity chef Todd English says he regrets that his relationship with his ex-fiancee spiraled into an assault charge against her in New York City.
English said in a statement Thursday night that he was "sorry that this unfortunate matter had to be addressed through the courts."
A judge agreed earlier in the day to close the case against Erica Wang without prison time or probation if she underwent anger-management and did community service.
She was accused of hitting English in the head with a metal wristwatch Sept. 14. He needed seven stitches.
Wang's lawyer says she's pleased with the court outcome.
English owns the Olives chain and has appeared on Bravo's "Top Chef." He called off the couple's wedding shortly before they were to be married in October.
