Many months ago I wrote a column that predicted the presidential candidate for the Democratic Party in 2020 would be the ultimate victim. My portended came under great criticism that the candidate with the most significant amount of victimhood was Hillary Clinton. Many people told me that she would never run again much less get the nomination.
Now we find several months later there is a great deal of talk that Hillary is running for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020. According to polling data, the current three leading contenders are all losers regarding winning the presidency. In addition to Hillary, you can add Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. Back in the pack is Elizabeth Warren. She is not officially a loser because she has not run for the presidential nomination and lost.
Let me pause for just a moment and add a thought in your brain that will fester once you begin to think about what I said. I have not been able to figure out why the Justice Department and the FBI haven’t reopened either her email problem or at least the perception of her possible pay for play with the contributors to the Clinton Foundation?
As I was preparing this article it came to me, the fact that she might run again and win, the deep state has to protect her until she does not have the potential to be president. They do not want to risk life and limb by spilling the beans about what really happened. Believe this forecast, if she can’t run the floodgates will open, sit back and watch.
Getting back to the old guys, Rasmussen reports that 73 percent of Democratic voters they polled said, “They want a fresh face to run for president in 2020.” Try these numbers on for size, if Hillary were to run for the nomination she would be 74, Joe Biden would be 77, Elizabeth Warren would be 71, and in the last place, Bernie Sanders would be 78.
It doesn’t seem to fit what the 73 percent of the rank and file of the Democratic Party is looking for in a candidate. One could ask if the party leaders like Nancy Pelosi at age 78, and Chuck Schumer at 67, is what the party is looking for to lead them in the charge to gain back the House, Senate, and the White House in 2020?
To be fair Donald Trump just turned 72 in June and would be 74 when he runs for re-election about the same age as Ronald Reagan when he ran for president for the second time.
Let us look at the freshest face in the Democratic Party, the person that shocked the party and knocked out one of the party leaders in the House, Joe Crowley. Joe was not old, based on the candidates above, but at 56 is twice as old as his rival Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The winner was 28 years old, and by the way, those of you who are thinking about her for a presidential candidate in 2020 remember your American history, the president must be at least 35 years of age at the time of his or her election. Ms. Ocasio-Cortez will be 30 years of age in 2020 so she would have to wait until the end of President’s Trump second term to run for president. Perhaps the Democrats can pass a constitutional amendment that would eliminate the Electoral College and the minimum age for president.
We need to look at what this fresh face has to say and try and figure out if the American people will agree with this new direction for the Democratic Party. First, she admits that she is a socialist running under the Democratic banner. Two things that are perhaps the most controversial: first she wants to have open borders, and second, she wants to eliminate the Department of Homeland Security including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
If the new face of the Democratic Party wants to have free and open borders, no Department of Homeland Security, eliminate the department to catch and deport illegals (ICE), she wants you to have to give everything to the government and let the government take care of all of us. Here is the $64,000 question, is America ready to pull the lever in the voting booth this November for the new Democratic Party driven by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's socialist party?
