July 4, 2018, is America’s 242 birthday.

Happy Birthday to our great nation. Let’s celebrate that extraordinary milestone — together.

Stay cool, drink fluids and have fun with those you love. From the mountains to the prairies, to the oceans bright with foam. God Bless America — our home sweet home.

George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and their buddy Alexander Hamilton and the other Founders had great ideas on the direction in which they wanted their new country to go.

They were tired of getting pushed around by other countries, especially by the tyrannical King of England. They were being tariffed to death, over taxed, under and/or not represented and felt used. Their land, their personal property, and resources were all being taken advantage of by others. They were sick and tired of being sick and tired.

They were smart, hard workers, and very generous. They devised a revolution to get out from under the largest empire on earth, the one over which the sun never set as it spanned every part of the globe. They took this country back. They sacrificed so much doing that and they won big.

Then they instituted our great constitution and stuck by it. Everything wasn’t perfect, by any means. But today this experiment in democracy is now revered the world over, and today America is still recognized uniformly as the greatest country on earth. That’s why everyone from around the world wants to come to America today. We are a land of immigrants, and today welcome people from the around the world, especially those who enter our country legally.

America was the land of the free and the home of the brave even back then. Great resources were abounding; land to be developed and farmed, cities and states to be created from nothing, natural resources to be discovered, and innovation was already underway with electric guys like Ben Franklin.

Service was part and parcel the unwritten rule. Judeo-Christian values were embedded in all citizens. It was a nation under God that resoundingly believed in one true thing — united we stand, divided we fall.

It is an amazing thing today to think back and reflect on then and now. We must.

Today we are divided, we are falling, and it's lopsided as to why. Just like in 1776 we are not going to put up with England taking advantage of us. Sound familiar? Friend or foe alike will we not allow Germany, Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, France, Venezuela or any country to push us around. That includes Canada too. This writer has deep family roots in and over 80 relatives there.

Enough is enough today. Just like in 1776 we said no more. Today is a new revolution of sorts. A movement. A solidarity to the phrase America First, and to Keeping America Great.

Just like then, we are tired of being tariffed to death, robbed of our jobs, infected by crime and gangs, worried about our economic securities, and having lost some of our pride. We are not going to be pushed around too by those who seek to destroy us because their religion, which they use as an excuse, says so. We are tolerant of all who are tolerant of us all.

We are tired of our past leaders spending like drunken sailors on social programs, out of control and undisciplined procurement, socialistic projects all of which have no proof of return on investment. We will not be pushed around in space either today where others see a way to do so and a vast space to dominate over us. Would venture our Founders would agree to this as well.

We will not be pushed around by foreign leaders that prefer to publicly grandstand by embarrassing our president and therefore us all — versus engage professionally in a dialogue or process that is appropriate (Justin Trudeau).

We are not going to be part of agreements, whether they were agreed to by others before us or not, that rob us of our dignity, or our rights, and indeed our economic or national security sovereignty.

Those days are now over too — why?

We have a George Washington of today, a Lincoln, a Reagan and an FDR too who will stand for us and all these things. We have a president who won’t allow us to be pushed around anymore. We may not always completely agree with the communicative way in which we hear the way in which he won’t allow us to be pushed around, but the message is resoundingly clear from him. Don’t push us around anymore. (a.k.a. DON’T TREAD ON ME.)

As we all celebrate our country’s birthday let us thank our president for giving us the best birthday present a president and our country can give and continue to provide to us — the protection of our life, our liberty and the pursuit of our happiness.

Happy Birthday America… and thank you Mr. President!
