Officials: Afghan Taliban Behead Two Kandahar Boys

By    |   Monday, 10 June 2013 09:02 AM EDT

Officials in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province say the Taliban have beheaded two boys for spying there. One of the boys, 10, is believed to have accepted food handouts from Zhari district police to feed his family, the BBC reported Monday.

Little is known about the other boy, 16.

The governor of Kandahar, located in southern Afghanistan, condemned the killing as inhumane and un-Islamic.

The killing of the 10-year-old was said to have taken place on Sunday. No time has been provided for the death of the 16-year-old, which was announced Monday.

The Taliban condemned the crime as well and denied it had beheaded any children in the area, according to the BBC.
