Every so often, this country finds itself in a giant culture clash. On deck for this week is single motherhood: Is it miserable or marvelous? On one side is Mike Huckabee, once the governor of Arkansas and now a rumored White House hopeful for the second time around. On the other side is an overly eager media looking to start a fight with the guy who largely leads the GOP field in a good number of authoritative presidential polls.
The Huck found himself at the center of the storm for comments he made about single motherhood. Headlines everywhere accused him of blasting Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman for her baby bump:
"One of the things that's troubling is that people see a Natalie Portman or some other Hollywood starlet who boasts of, 'Hey look, you know, we're having children, we're not married, but we're having these children, and they're doing just fine.' But there aren't really a lot of single moms out there who are making millions of dollars every year for being in a movie."
