Yes, We Can — Repeal Obamacare

Six months ago this week, Obamacare was a celebration for the left. Now, after a flashy White House bill signing, the new entitlement program is a political hot potato that nobody wants to touch.

On the campaign trail, Democrats are not just running from the issue — they are ignoring it altogether. Not one Democrat has taken an ad out touting the package, though many voted for its passage. And while Democrats duck, Republicans are seizing this opportunity. In the GOP's new "governing agenda," unveiled today, there is a pledge for repeal, while others in the party have proposed options for reversing or replacing this package. But how realistic are these proposed alternatives?

Some are calling for a repeal of certain pieces of the healthcare legislation, but this would be extremely difficult since it is the interlocking creation of a mad scientist. Pulling out one piece would cause the whole thing to fall apart. For example, the insurers need the mandate to get healthy people into the system or their costs will skyrocket. The same goes for the subsidies. Without them, only the very sick will sign up, as it will be unaffordable for the healthy, lower-income population.
