Almost two-thirds of Texans oppose the construction of a border wall between the United States and Mexico, according to the results of a new poll.
Notable results for the wide-ranging Texas Lyceum Poll on immigration:
- 61 percent are against President Donald Trump's border wall proposal, while 35 percent support it.
- 37 percent said Trump's executive orders on immigration would make the U.S. safer, while 22 percent said the opposite.
- 50 percent think Trump will try to deport millions of illegal aliens currently in the U.S., but 62 percent don't want him to do that.
- 63 percent are in favor of providing illegal aliens a pathway to becoming a U.S. citizen.
- 49 percent oppose sanctuary cities, while 45 percent support them.
